Sporty and active in the Silvretta Montafon

Whether it's a relaxed day of hiking, an adventurous via ferrata or a sweat-inducing high-altitude tour - every mountain lover will find the perfect natural backdrop in the Silvretta Montafon. The 500 km network of marked trails leads across lush alpine meadows, past rustic huts and up to the ridges and peaks of the Montafon mountain ranges. The numerous hiking trails, ranging from easy to challenging levels of difficulty, also include some themed hiking trails for leisure hikers and families.

If you are looking for the right challenge in the mountains, the rocky terrain of the Silvretta Montafon is just right for you. The offer for rock artists ranges from beginner via ferratas to high alpine routes. The Hochjoch adventure mountain offers one of the longest via ferratas in Vorarlberg with 1,750 metres of rope length and 450 metres of altitude to climb. Bouldering fans and alpine climbers will also get their money's worth on the varied routes.

The mountain landscape of Silvretta Montafon is also perfect for exploring on two wheels. On the 270 kilometres of cycle, mountain bike and e-bike routes, there is a trail to suit both leisure cyclists and mountain bike freaks. Here you can experience the beautiful landscape on routes ranging from an entertaining 500 metres in altitude to a challenging 2,700 metres in altitude.

The perfect start at a sunny altitude

If you want to start your hike on one of the panoramic high-altitude trails, take the cable car for a relaxed start from the valley. On weekends and public holidays since the end of May, the Zamang cable car takes all mountain lovers up to the Kapell, from where the Hochjoch adventure mountain can be explored. From 3 July, Silvretta Montafon will then open its gondola doors completely and expand the summer mountain railway offer: In addition to the Zamang and Sennigrat cable cars from Schruns and the Versettla cable car from Gaschurn, the Garfrescha cable car, from St. Gallenkirch, will also take guests up the mountain every day. In addition, from 3 July on weekends there is the option of taking the Grasjoch and Hochalpila cable cars from St. Gallenkirch to save many metres in altitude.

Alpine experiences on the Hochjoch adventure mountain

The right thrills for young and old await on the Hochjoch adventure mountain. In addition to balancing and slackline courses with rope lengths of five to seven metres, there is also a motor skills playground for budding mountaineers. On the suspension bridges and climbing rocks of the "active area", children can easily familiarise themselves with the elements that are part of mountaineering. For particularly inquisitive hiking fans, the Silvretta Montafon offers the best opportunity to learn about the diversity of alpine nature in a playful way with the natural forces trail and the lake biotope, creating a great experience for the whole family.

Magic moments under the open sky

Spend a night under the open sky, surrounded by breathtaking mountain peaks - Silvretta Montafon fulfils this dream too. From 11 July to 28 August, the vastness of the clear starry sky can be admired at an altitude of 2,000 metres. After the hour-long hike to the campsite, the evening ends with a cosy barbecue by the campfire before heading into the cosy sleeping bag in the tent. In the morning, a sumptuous mountain breakfast in the Kapellrestaurant rounds off the mountain adventure perfectly.

Varied culinary highlights on sunny panoramic terraces

The mountain huts in the Silvretta Montafon have one thing in common: the freshness and regionality of the food. Enjoy the surrounding mountain panorama on the spacious sun terraces while savouring delicious mountain delicacies. After a hearty mountain breakfast in the Kapellrestaurant or the Nova Stoba, you can set off on your next mountain adventure with renewed vigour. At the Grasjoch Hütte, refreshments await all guests in a deckchair both before and after the hiking tour. The rustic hut also offers a delicious Weißwurst breakfast at the weekend.

Casual events ensure a relaxed festival atmosphere

The morning pint at the Grasjoch Hütte on 5 July with good live music ensures a relaxed event feeling and a good start to the day. A week later, visitors have the opportunity to experience the diversity of the unique Alpine summer up close with regional products at the Alpfest. At the beginning of August, the wine festival at Nova Stoba makes wine lovers' hearts beat faster. 20 renowned winegrowers present a fine selection of high-quality wines. In addition, the chefs of the mountain restaurants offer delicious "Alpine tapas" made from regional specialities at various food stands. On 8 and 9 August, everything revolves around brass at "Brass am Berg" in the Kapellrestaurant. On this concert weekend, various brass bands with trumpets, trombones and tubas provide plenty of rhythm for a great festival atmosphere on the mountain.
