Silvretta Montafon modernises Jöchle cable car
With the Jöchle lift, which will go into operation in time for the 2018/19 winter season, the Silvretta Montafon Group is already getting its 60th lift system from the Vorarlberg-based cable car company Doppelmayr.

With the Jöchle lift, which will go into operation in time for the 2018/19 winter season, the Silvretta Montafon Group is already getting its 60th lift system from the Vorarlberg-based cable car company Doppelmayr. The new 6-seater Jöchle chairlift will replace three old lifts, resulting in a significant increase in quality and comfort with almost the same capacity.
Three become one: In the 2018/19 winter season, winter sports enthusiasts in the Silvretta Montafon in the Valisera region can expect a new 6-seater chairlift to replace the two Jöchle lifts and the Älpli cable car. The Älpli lift was already dismantled last autumn, while the two Jöchle T-bar lifts were removed this summer. ‘The three lifts were no longer up to date. The existing range of pistes in the Älpli and Jöchle area is highly appreciated by locals and regular guests. The World Ski Test - the most important independent ski test in the world - has already been carried out here twice,’ explains Peter Marko. It was therefore time to replace the lifts from the 70s and 80s in order to meet today's quality and comfort requirements. ‘We are delighted with the significant upgrade in the Valisera ski area,’ continues Peter Marko.
Work on the construction of the Jöchle 6-seater chairlift has already begun. The first components of the cable car technology have also been delivered. Some of these come from a used installation from Salzburg. ‘The reused components will be completely overhauled by Doppelmayr in Wolfurt. In addition, important station and track components will be delivered completely new, such as the drive and haul rope. In particular, we are also equipping the lift with completely new comfort upholstery,’ explains Martin Oberhammer.
50 years of partnership with Doppelmayr
Silvretta Montafon and the Vorarlberg-based cable car company Doppelmayr are celebrating two milestone anniversaries this year: firstly, the two companies have enjoyed an exclusive partnership for 50 years. Secondly, the Jöchle lift is the 60th installation that Doppelmayr has realised for the entire Silvretta Montafon Group. ‘We have regularly realised important projects for Silvretta Montafon in recent years, such as the Panorama Bahn and the Silvretta Bahn. Like Silvretta Montafon, we endeavour to offer our guests the highest level of comfort and quality,’ says Thomas Pichler, Managing Director of Doppelmayr Seilbahnen GmbH.
