Where sporting visions meet home.
Greetings!
I'm Matthias and I come from the beautiful Silbertal valley. The Montafon is not only my home, but also the perfect place for sporting adventures. I've been out and about in our local mountains since I was a child - whether skiing, climbing, hiking or biking. This is where I got to know the sporting possibilities of our region from the ground up. Today I can contribute to the further development of these opportunities: from the conception of new routes or events to the further development and coordination of existing highlights. Silvretta Montafon is and remains a sporting paradise that we want to make a little more exciting every year with fresh ideas and innovative concepts.
Where it all began
The first winter sports enthusiasts strapped on their skis in the Montafon back in 1906. The history of ski tourism took off with the construction of the first ski lift in 1947. Our history is closely linked to the spectacular topography of the region: steep slopes, high alpine landscapes and deep valleys offer perfect conditions for sporting challenges. Today, we are proud to be one of the most versatile ski resorts - perfect for anyone who wants to test their limits.
Montafon Olympic and world champion
Our region produces real champions: Alessandro Hämmerle, Olympic champion in snowboard cross, has his roots here. Max Hitzig, winner of the Freeride World Tour 2024, is another face that represents the sporting DNA of the Montafon.
So of course it makes sense for us to give the best winter sports athletes a stage in the Montafon. Grown and established over the years, the Open Faces attract the best freeriders to the legendary face of the “small home peak” every year. This is a real highlight - just like the FIS Snowboard Cross World Cup, which brings the world's snowboard cross elite to the Montafon. And because we just can't get enough of snow, we celebrate our last winter event in June with the Seetal Splash. Thank you, Mrs. Holle, for your loyalty!
Flying high: action and variety in the Silvretta Montafon
On this basis, we have created a winter sports offer that has grown over the years. Highlights such as our Snowpark Montafon, which attracts international stars and the local freestyle scene, set standards. The park, designed with a lot of passion by our locals Manni and Philipp, is a hotspot for freestyle action at the highest level.
Our cross trails, spread across the entire ski area, offer fun and challenges for all skill levels - from small waves for beginners to challenging passages for pros. Families get their money's worth here just as much as experienced racers.
Freeriders love the wide range of options between the Verwall and Silvretta mountain ranges. The combination of high alpine variants and extensive descents makes our area unique. Our locals Thomas Feurstein, Fabio Studer and Max Hitzig impressively demonstrate how versatile the freeride experience is here.
Speed freaks get their money's worth in the race area. Here you can compete with friends in the parallel slalom or speed check and beat your best time.
We keep moving
Our history and the special topography of the Montafon form the basis for our sports programme. The steep slopes, high alpine landscape and wide valleys are not only our home, but also the perfect basis for sporting variety. Whether mountain experiences, routes, training opportunities or events - we are constantly working on creating new highlights and improving existing ones without losing sight of our alpine roots.
