Pure winter anticipation
Extensive freeride routes, perfect pistes and spectacular events await all winter sports enthusiasts in the sportiest ski area.
Extensive freeride routes, perfect pistes and spectacular events await all winter sports enthusiasts in the sportiest ski area. Since December 2021, visitors to Silvretta Montafon have also been able to experience the new Valisera cable car and the Silvretta Park Montafon, which houses Vorarlberg's largest e-charging garage, among other things. With the introduction of a ‘dynamic pricing’ model in the Montafon Brandnertal mountain railway network, early bookers in particular can now benefit from attractive ticket prices.
With two innovations, Silvretta Montafon offers the opportunity to make your winter holiday fully electric from the moment you arrive to the start of your ski run. With the first autonomously operated cable car in Austria, the Valisera cable car, a world first was put into operation in 2021. Reduced to the essentials, the new 10-passenger gondolas of the D-Line from Doppelmayr have since been available to guests as a very special cable car experience. The low-noise, low-vibration lift guarantees maximum ride comfort and maximum technical performance. At the same time, the modern Silvretta Park Montafon opened its doors and, with an integrated e-charging station, offers 50 parking spaces for electric vehicles and a total of 600 parking spaces. The multifunctional building complex houses a large market hall with regional catering, offering something for every taste. An Intersport shop with ski depot and the ski school centre also provide visitors with everything they need for a successful day on the mountain. Since this summer, there has been another novelty: the Revier Mountain Lodge Montafon. In combination with a public restaurant, the new hotel right next to the cable car station is a fantastic starting point for sports activities of all kinds.
Away from the rigid price model - early bookers benefit from ‘dynamic pricing’
From the 2022/23 winter season, the Montafon Brandnertal mountain railway association, which also includes Silvretta Montafon Bergbahnen, is introducing a dynamic pricing model for day and multi-day tickets. The prices are recalculated daily with the help of an algorithm. This allows the mountain railways to react to influencing factors such as fluctuations in demand and the time of booking. Those who buy their mountain railway tickets early, e.g. directly when booking their family holiday, benefit from attractive ticket prices. This should also make skiing during the week or in the low season more popular. If tickets are purchased online via the newly designed web shop or the Silvretta Montafon app, long queues at the ticket office can also be avoided. Tickets purchased online can be collected easily and without waiting at a pick-up box, which can be found at all valley stations. The season and annual passes will continue to have fixed prices as usual, making them the most cost-effective alternative for frequent skiers. The pre-sale for these tickets runs until 8 December.
Winter activities & culinary highlights
You can reach the Austrian ski region by car in less than three hours from Munich in a relaxed and stress-free manner, without the need for mountain passes or snow chains. With 140 kilometres of pistes and 35 lifts, Silvretta Montafon offers its guests a wide range of downhill runs in front of a unique panorama. The longest valley run in Vorarlberg leads from the highest point at over 2,430 metres down into the valley to Schruns. Early risers are rewarded with a unique morning atmosphere on the mountain on one of the sunrise runs. The Black Scorpions Challenge is the best way to prove your sporting prowess. The five steepest pistes in the Silvretta Montafon with a gradient of up to 67 per cent are known as the Black Scorpions. Those who conquer them all and track their descents in the SiMo app collect points that can be redeemed for attractive vouchers. Afterwards, you can replenish your energy reserves with a hearty stop at the Kapellrestaurant or the Nova Stoba with its panoramic views. After an extensive day of skiing, head straight from the piste to the VINNOVA, the highest wine bar in Vorarlberg, for a wine tasting.
