Since mid-December 2022, Silvretta Montafon has been running a daycare centre in Schruns that is specially tailored to the needs of employees and companies in tourism regions. The SiMo Gagla Club (Gagla are children in the Montafon dialect) was officially opened on 11 January 2023.
In the first phase, the SiMo Gagla Club will offer all-day childcare for children aged between three and ten at weekends (Fri/Sat/Sun) and during holiday periods. The offer is thus tailored to the main working hours in tourism, when public childcare facilities are closed, and is aimed at employees who would otherwise not have the opportunity to return to work or work full or part-time in the tourism sector.
The SiMo Gagla Club (including meals and transport) is free of charge for Silvretta Montafon employees, regardless of their level of employment (full-time, part-time, temporary). Other companies or private individuals can also use the SiMo Gagla Club for a fee if places are available. In the future, this can and should also lead to co-operation with other companies in the region.
The educational concept of the SiMo Gagla Club focusses on actively engaging children, not only in the newly designed premises but often also outdoors or on the mountain. Although it is formally a leisure centre and therefore merely a supplement to public childcare facilities, the children should be encouraged and inspired during their time at the SiMo Gagla Club. The centre is run by Nathalie Petit, a qualified teacher with many years of experience.
‘Flexible childcare tailored to the needs of employees and companies is one of the most important levers for integrating female employees into the labour market. As a large tourism employer, we have taken the initiative here to offer our employees new opportunities. However, we hope that after the initial phase, co-operations with other companies will result in order to increase the overall attractiveness of the Montafon as a tourist work region,’ explains Peter Marko, Managing Director of Silvretta Montafon.
