Largest project in the company's history completed

Silvretta Park Montafon and Valisera cable car opened

St. Gallenkirch (A). The new Silvretta Park Montafon opened on 18 December 2021. At the same time, the new Valisera cable car, whose valley station is integrated into the Silvretta Park, went into operation for the first time. Silvretta Montafon invested a total of 70 million euros in the overall project. Guests can look forward to Austria's first autonomously operated 10-seater gondola lift, Vorarlberg's largest e-charging garage, a market hall with regional gastronomy and an Intersport shop, among other things. From summer 2022, Silvretta Park Montafon will be complemented by a directly connected hotel with a public restaurant.

"The Silvretta Park with the integrated Valisera cable car is the largest project in our company's history. Together with the architects Obermoser + Partner, we have created a multifunctional complex that offers our guests an all-round package of services and leisure enjoyment. The mountain experience begins in the valley - exactly where we made history around 40 years ago with the opening of the Valisera cable car. We are therefore all the more delighted to now present another outstanding flagship project at the same location: With the new Valisera cable car, the first autonomously operated 10-passenger gondola lift in Austria, we are entering a new cable car era," emphasises Peter Marko, one of the two managing directors of Silvretta Montafon. The company invested a total of 70 million euros in the overall project.

Pioneering ropeway technology
The Doppelmayr D-Line gondolas are not only more comfortable thanks to the individual seats with seat heating, but also the indoor ski holder: in future, skis will no longer have to be placed in holders on the outside of the doors when boarding, but can be conveniently fixed in recesses in the floor inside the cabin. The gondolas are also designed to be barrier-free. The route and the position of the middle and top stations have remained virtually unchanged. At a speed of 6.5 metres per second, the lift covers a total altitude difference of 820 metres. This means that up to 2,800 people can be transported per hour (final capacity 3,600 people per hour). "With the Valisera Bahn 2.0, we are bringing pioneering cable car technology to the Montafon - the cable car impresses with maximum performance and is simultaneously reduced to the essentials, packaged in a modern design and unique architecture: even the gondola ride becomes a real first-class experience," Martin Oberhammer, second Managing Director of Silvretta Montafon, is convinced.

Service and facilities bundled in one place
"The Silvretta Park Montafon is the new hub of Silvretta Montafon. It connects the two mountain sides Hochjoch and Nova as well as the outer and inner valley - Außer- and Innerfratte. Everything the winter and mountain sports resort has to offer can be found here. We have placed particular emphasis on short distances, ideal visitor flow management and maximum comfort," emphasizes Peter Marko. The amenities at Silvretta Park also include convenient, barrier-free access from the underground car park to the gondola lift boarding point. The underground car park is designed as the largest e-charging garage in Vorarlberg and has a total of 600 parking spaces as well as a MOON Lounge with 50 charging stations. In terms of gastronomy, the new complex with the integrated market hall focuses on regional offerings at various stations. There is also a modern Intersport store including a depot and a Kästle "Test & Buy Center". The ski school center is also integrated into the Silvretta Park Montafon. From the summer of next year, Silvretta Park Montafon will also include a hotel with an adjoining public restaurant. "Our vision was to create a year-round meeting place - a meeting zone with a feel-good factor for guests, locals and employees alike. We are all the more pleased that we have been able to live up to this aspiration with Silvretta Park," concludes Peter Marko.
