After the opening on 11 January, the Silvretta cable car officially goes into operation

The fastest 8-seater chairlift in Vorarlberg has opened

The grand opening of the new Silvretta Bahn in the Silvretta Montafon ski area took place on Wednesday, 11 January 2017.

St. Gallenkirch. The grand opening of the new Silvretta cable car in the Silvretta Montafon ski area took place on Wednesday, 11 January 2017. The fastest 8-seater chairlift in Vorarlberg provides more capacity, comfort and safety for guests. Silvretta Montafon invested a total of almost 14 million euros in the new Silvretta cable car.

The new Silvretta cable car - the fastest 8-seater chairlift in Vorarlberg - officially went into operation after its grand opening on Wednesday, 11 January 2017. "We are delighted that the Silvretta cable car has been available to our guests since 10 December 2016. The new lift improves comfort and infrastructure in our ski area enormously: waiting times are a thing of the past thanks to the travel speed of 5.5 metres per second and a transport capacity of 3,200 people per hour," says Peter Marko, Managing Director of Silvretta Montafon, adding: "The Silvretta lift was the next step in the modernisation of the sportiest ski area. We have invested a total of almost 14 million euros."

Comfort and understated design

The new cable car from Doppelmayr provides a comfortable ride to the mountain station, where there are numerous ski slopes and ski routes to choose from, thanks to its padded and heated seats with the latest automatic closing mechanism as well as foot and ski rests.

Child safety bars make travelling on the Silvretta cable car safe and enjoyable for younger guests too. "In addition to the comfort for guests, it was particularly important for us to minimise the visual impact of the Silvretta cable car on the topography. The valley station 'grows' discreetly out of the slope and the roof of the integrated basement station is covered in greenery," explains Peter Marko

and adds: "The mountain station at 2,145 metres above sea level is matched to the other Silvretta Montafon lifts in terms of colour, design and materials. This creates a harmonious overall picture in the sportiest ski area." Construction negotiations for the Silvretta lift took place in June 2016 - the construction time was just six months. The new lift was given its name through a survey within the Facebook community: fans submitted over 200 name suggestions and ultimately voted in favour of "Silvretta Bahn".
